The school recognizes that sport should be an integral part of every student’s life. However, we also realize that students should be able to enjoy sports at their appropriate level. For some students, the aim must be to perfect their skills in one or more sport to allow them to represent the school or at a higher level. For others, the aim will be to gain maximum enjoyment from sport. For others, it might be to improve fitness and health.

The sports programme has been carefully organized to cater for all of these needs. Each morning, students rise at 6.10 to undertake half an hour of physical fitness training with the opportunity for some to specialize in specific sports. During the day, younger students have PE lessons in which they learn the skills required for a range of sports and games.

In the afternoon, every student undertakes a further one and a half hour of sport which they themselves choose. Here, some sports receive specialist coaching (either from staff within the school or external coaches) while others are played more for fun. Throughout the year, one term is devoted to each sport so that every student can receive specialist coaching in as many sports as they require.
