Art forms an important part of the school. Students in classes IV to X enjoy two periods of art teaching each week. Here, our emphasis is on developing the key skills of drawing and painting but students are also encouraged to develop their abilities in printing, sculpture and ceramics. Here, the teaching in the school is supplemented by using outside specialists to provide intensive courses in specific media so that students can be stimulated to greater levels of achievement by meeting real experts in a specific field.

Art competitions help to develop a lively sense of friendly rivalry among the students and help them to learn to judge others’ work and to realize how others see their own works. Art is also used more generally in the school to enliven notice boards, to help represent work in a more visual manner and to support house events with banners and posters.
